Wadsworth Trail Project (West Side of Spartanburg)

Wadsworth Trail cyclist

Beginning with the Wadsworth Trail along Willis Road, the plans for the west side of Spartanburg currently include a connection between Willis Road and Oak Grove Road, and will expand to include a network of connected trails, sidewalks, greenways, and parks with the intention of creating a complete loop around the area.

The next Phase to be implemented is the Wadsworth Trail Phase 5 (Anderson Mill Road Section 1) which is shown on the map as the dark green dotted line. This will add another 2/3 of a mile to the trail.

We are proud of the work to date, which includes approximately 3 miles of trail. Phase 5 of the trail will connect multiple neighborhoods of varying economic range to:

  • Church
  • Fitness center
  • Future restored historic Anderson Mill and park
  • Library
  • Services
  • Shopping
  • Two schools

Since 2006, the following partners have worked together to see the trail come to fruition in order to connect residents with safe walking and bicycling travel options in the Willis Road community, west of I-26, south of US 29:

  • Partners for Active Living
  • Spartanburg County Engineering
  • Spartanburg County Parks
  • Tyger River Foundation
  • Westside Neighborhood Association
