Transit Program
The City of Spartanburg runs a transit service called Spartanburg Area Regional Transit Agency (SPARTA) that primarily provides scheduled fixed-route services in and around the City of Spartanburg. For residents who live within the SPARTA service area, but are unable to access the SPARTA bus, a Complementary Paratransit Service complements the fixed-route system and can be utilized after completion of a certification process.
Dial-A-Ride
Dial-A-Ride is available to all Spartanburg County residents by the Transportation Services Bureau (TSB). Its purpose is to help people get to health and human services, to jobs, as well as other destinations such as grocery stores or libraries. There are a charge and payment is due at the time of pick-up. People needing someone to go with them will pay a small additional charge. Advance reservation is required. Buses operate Monday through Friday from 4 am to 7 pm, depending on passenger requests. Saturday service is available. The Dial-A-Ride fee schedule is based on zones (see the Fare Map [PDF]). Fees vary from $3 to $8.50 each way depending on the destination. Vehicles are accessible to people with handicaps.

Groups can contract through Spartanburg Regional to get bus service. However, schools and school-related functions are not eligible. Call the Transportation Services Bureau toll-free at 800-277-7762 to speak with someone about details.
Medicaid
Medicaid transportation is provided to Spartanburg County residents who are certified for Medicaid coverage. A five-day advance reservation for service is required. Service is provided to and from Medicaid approved destinations. Vehicles are accessible to people with handicaps.
